Summer Re-Read #1: Poppy

A fun, adventure-filled read for a younger audience. I loved it when I was small, but am all too aware of the fact that I am no longer within the book’s age bracket. Would 100% recommend to kids, but adult readers might feel a bit underwhelmed overall.

The Handmaid’s Tale

Something to read for anyone who isn’t scared ENOUGH about the state of their country. There’s a reason this book has become such a sensation… Unfortunately, that reason is “Oh god, this could actually happen if we don’t do something about it.” I’d say, “enjoy,” but that is certainly not the point of this story. Also, is it obvious that I was a little bitter during this review?

Eon

Yet another one that I don’t feel inclined to recommend or read the sequel to. Mostly, to make a long story short, because I found it incredibly frustrating to get through. Is the concept interesting? Yes. Does it have memorable characters? Yes. But is it worth the 500+ pages? I’ll let you decide for yourself.

The Savior’s Champion

I was first introduced to Jenna Moreci’s work through her highly successful YouTube channel. She is clearly a talented writer and has a lot of helpful advice to give about publishing… I just wish she practiced a little more of what she preached when it comes to storytelling.
